A résumé should be more than a list of responsibilities. In fact, a résumé should NOT be a list of responsibilities. ATS Compatible

Don't fear the ATS - There is no such thing as a bot reviewing your résumé and throwing it out. Immediate rejections are a result of your application answers, not your résumé. I’m sure you’ve heard several times when speaking with other résumé writers that they will “beat the ATS” or they focus on the ATS when they write your résumé. It’s a lie perpetuated by lousy writers who use that as an excuse when their clients don’t get interviews.

The ATS has one function - track applications. Think of it like a filing cabinet. You apply. The ATS holds the application. A human goes in and reads the résumé.

What an ATS can struggle with is fancy résumé designs. Since an ATS cannot read what’s in headers, footers, columns, and text boxes, résumés built using those typically don’t parse well when the computer scans it. Don’t create your résumé in Canva!
